Lawrence Rinder is the Director of Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (BAM/PFA), a position to which he was appointed in 2008.
Formerly the Dean of the College at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco, he had also previously served as the Anne and Joel Ehrenkranz Curator of Contemporary Art at the Whitney Museum of American Art and Chief Curator of the 2002 Whitney Biennial. He recently received the National Art Critics Award and the AICA (International Association of Art Critics) Award for his mid-career retrospective of the works of Tim Hawkinson, which opened at the Whitney Museum in 2005 before traveling to other museums throughout the U.S.
