JOHANNA BURTON

Johanna Burton is an art historian and critic living in New York. She is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Art and Archaeology at Princeton University, where she is writing a dissertation on the role of “appropriation” in art of the 1980s. She attended the Whitney Independent Study Program as a critical studies fellow and received an M.Phil from New York University’s Department of Performance Studies. Her work has appeared in a wide range of publications, including Artforum, Parkett, and Texte Zur Kunst.
