Cassandra Coblentz is associate curator at the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (SMoCA) where she has curated exhibitions including Seriously Funny, Pae White: Lisa Bright & Dark, Lyle Ashton Harris: Blow Up, Right to Print: Segura Publishing Company, southwestNET: drawing outside the lines, southwestNET: paintingThe Border Film Project and southwestNET: techno. She has also acted as in-house curator for touring exhibitions Radical Lace and Subversive Knitting, Petah Coyne: Above and Beneath the Skin and Willie Birch: Celebrating Freedom, among others. She was the 2002/2003 Pew Charitable Trust, Philadelphia Exhibitions Initiative Curatorial Fellow at The Fabric Workshop and Museum where she curated the exhibition Surface Tension and worked with artists Doug Aitken and Kiki Smith. She was the Head of Academic Initiatives at The UCLA Hammer Museum and has worked in the education departments of the DIA Center for the Arts in New York and The J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles and has held positions at commercial art galleries and alternative spaces. She received her BA in Art History and English from Cornell University and her MA from The Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College.
