He is a contributing editor at WSJ., the Wall Street Journal magazine, and is the author of numerous critically acclaimed books on architecture, art, and urbanism, including Weekend Utopia, Naked Airport, Spaced Out, Beach Houses, Romantic Modernist, and Qualities of Duration. Gordon is married to the designer and environmental activist Barbara de Vries.
